Update on property viewings organised by Homeownership Westminster

Following the announcement made by the UK government on Monday 4th January 2021, we anticipate intermediate housing providers to continue to offer property viewings during this period of lockdown.  These property viewings, unless otherwise stated, will be held virtually (with a video sent to applicants by email or WhatsApp), this is a decision taken by the housing providers directly.

HOW Service Opening Hours Christmas & New Year (2020-21)

The Homeownership Westminster service will be open as follows over the Christmas and New Year holiday period (2020-21):

December 24th - 28th

Partner housing providers have confirmed they will continue to offer property viewings during the current 4 week lockdown period running between Thursday 5th November - Wednesday 2nd December.

Please check our website regularly as we expect new opportunities to become available in the coming days and weeks from housing providers including Peabody, Dolphin Living and Westminster Community Homes (WCH).

Eligibility changes – household income threshold increases

As of 1st April 2016, the household income threshold has now increased to £90,000 for applicants looking to buy or rent any intermediate housing across London.

Please note that this maximum household income applies to properties of any bedroom size.

Government launch Help to Buy ISAs

The beginning of December saw the launch of the Government’s new Help to Buy ISA scheme. The Help to Buy ISAs are highly recommended by financial experts for first time buyer’s saving for a mortgage deposit. If you are saving to buy your first home, then the Help to Buy ISA can boost your savings by 25%. For every £200 you save, you will receive a Government bonus of £50. The maximum bonus you can receive is £3,000.
