Westminster Community Homes’ Intermediate Rent Scheme
This scheme, available on properties owned by Westminster Community Homes only, is aimed at assisting applicants earning between £20,000 and £39,000.
The scheme will offer access to a limited number of one bedroom properties located throughout Westminster. These are let on an ‘assured short-hold’ tenancy agreement for 12 months. There will then be the option to sign up to further one year tenancies (subject to you still qualifying for intermediate rent at the end of each 1 year tenancy), for a maximum tenancy of 3 years in total.
Ultimately, the scheme is aimed at encouraging people to save a deposit for their onward move, whether that be becoming a home owner via one of the low cost home ownership schemes or renting a new home elsewhere.
Applicants who are ineligible to apply – those who currently have intermediate rental tenancies in Westminster, also those who have previously been Westminster Community Homes intermediate tenants.
All Homeownership Westminster residents will automatically be considered for this scheme and prioritised according to their priority banding. It is therefore important to ensure that those interested in the scheme are fully registered with the service.
Scheme update June 2017:
Westminster Community Homes is deeply saddened by the tragic fire at Grenfell Tower. We are doing all that we can to help find accommodation for the affected families and have made the decision to withdraw all of our advertised intermediate rent properties so that we can offer them to Kensington and Chelsea for these families. We thank you for your understanding.
